MEDPAR Data Sets

Reden & Anders has accumulated vast amounts of deidentified insured health claims data which has been compiled into a longitudinal database encompassing a set period. Health insurance claims are reflective of an insured HMO Commercial population, as well as Medicare recipients.

The Reden & Anders Research Database is a rich data set, allowing deeper analysis of issues of interest to many health care related organizations.

MEDPAR database

The Reden & Anders database can analyze and track the use of medical services by individual over a longitudinal claims period. In compliance with HIPAA regulations, this data is deidentified and randomly generated numbers are substituted for individual identifiers.

MEDPAR capabilities:

  • Evaluate the impact of disease management initiatives and their resulting return on investments
  • Quantify the potential value of new medical device technology products and their potential cost and benefit impact on medical care
  • Forecast potential market demand for new medical devices
  • Evaluate the impact that certain drugs have on overall medical care expenses
  • Identify the potential savings associated with availability of new generics, incoming generics, and projected costs for incoming brand name drugs
  • Compare the incidence rates associated with illness classifications as defined by ICD-9 diagnosis codes and allocation of expense across place of service
  • Model potential new reimbursement strategies for medical service providers (e.g., physician DRGs)
  • Analyze the business plans of new medical companies going public

Continual expansion

Each passing year, the research database grows in terms of medical claims and underlying insured exposure. This allows more sophisticated, longer-term studies to be performed, capturing the effects new medical treatments have on patient utilization and cost.
