Steve Wright has worked extensively with numerous HMO plans, insurance companies, provider organizations, disease management companies, and other managed care entities across the country. He has more than 20 years of actuarial experience.
His areas of expertise include:
- Managed healthcare pricing and product development
- Economics of disease and medical management programs
- Data management, reporting, and experience analysis
- Provider contracting and risk-sharing arrangements
- Reinsurance and excess-of-loss insurance
- Predictive modeling applications
- Forecasting demand for health care services
Prior engagements include a number of projects for health care entities implementing case-mix or risk-adjustment methodologies—in relation to both insurance risk and provider contracting. He also has provided actuarial and underwriting assistance to start-up organizations, assisted hospitals regarding service demand planning, evaluated hospital contracting strategies, developed disease-specific global pricing and specialty specific capitations, and developed global capitation rates and related reimbursement strategies for integrated delivery systems.
Recently, Wright served as vice president of healthcare economics for a disease management company. There, he was involved in the design, monitoring, and auditing of financial and clinical outcomes measurement methodologies. He also led an initiative to design and build a data warehouse and reporting system. In addition, the Disease Management Association of America asked him to participate on a team of industry experts charged with developing industry standard outcomes measurement methodologies.
Before joining Reden & Anders, Wright was an assistant vice president with LDG Management Company, where he was responsible for pricing and underwriting of various excess-of-loss arrangements. His responsibilities included data analysis, pricing, rating, and operational audits of underwriting functions at reinsured clients.
Wright is an associate of the Society of Actuaries and member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He received a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin.
