Kirk Twiss is a Principal with the Reden & Anders health care practice in Chicago. He specializes in actuarial services related to the financial risk of managed care organizations. He has worked as a consultant in the managed care arena for more than 20 years, the majority of that time with Bob Gold & Associates, and most recently with Ernst & Young, in Chicago. His experience covers a wide array of health care actuarial services:
- Commercial experience includes HMO community rate calculations and filings, group rating and underwriting, development of rating methodologies and manuals, and experience analysis.
- Senior products experience includes A/B and D bid calculations and filings. He also is involved in benefit plan design and pricing and feasibility studies for new Medicare Advantage plans with a particular emphasis on special needs plans (SNP).
- Medicaid and children’s products experience includes development of capitation rates for products as well as experience and projection analysis of health care costs.
- Provider experience includes risk model pricing.
- All products: Reserve calculations and certifications.
Twiss became a fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 1985 and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries in 1983. He has a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University and an MBA from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
He has spoken at several industry seminars on Medicare, including the Society of Actuaries, the Institute for International Research, and Financial Research Associates.
