Jim Drennan, a Principal in the Atlanta office of Reden & Anders, is an actuary specializing in financial and strategic managed care engagements.
He has worked with numerous insurers, HMO plans, Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, state insurance departments, self-insured trusts, and associations in the group life and health market. As a consultant, he has assisted in pricing, reserving, experience rating, underwriting, and benefit analysis for clients in the individual and group life and health market, both insured and uninsured. He has more than 30 years of group life and health experience.
Prior to joining Reden & Anders in 2002, Drennan was a principal in Tillinghast-Towers Perrin’s St. Louis office for 10 years and its Atlanta office for five years.
He worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana as senior vice president and chief actuary. His responsibilities included the actuarial and underwriting departments for the plan, including the HMO and life insurance subsidiary companies. Before that, he was the group actuary for the Philadelphia Life Group Division in Houston, Texas. He also worked for the Texas Insurance Department as a policy analyst and examining actuary.
Drennan has a degree in mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, and a fellow of the Life Office Management Institute. He also is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He has served these organizations as a member of various committees and as a frequent speaker. Committee assignments include the Education & Examination Committee, Health Practice Notes Committee, the Committee on Health Benefit Systems Research, and the Association Health Plans Committee.
